What is MySQL
MySQL is an open-source relational database management system (RDBMS) that uses Structured Query Language (SQL), the most popular language for adding, accessing, and processing data in a database.
Think of MySQL as a big filing cabinet where all the content on your site is stored.
MySQL Admin and Development Tools that I recommend
As a novice in the field of web development, I think we should do everything possible to start with the “latest technology, the most recent”,in order to advance to the step of “our own time” and that’s what I’ll do when the time comes, for now I can recommend the most simple and compatible tools.
MySQL Workbench (Win, Linux, Mac)
I think is good because its fully featured visual database design package make it easy to understand.
Includes database design, modeling, creation and maintenance bundled into a single environment for the MySQL database system. The free version is the Community Edition, which is loaded with features that will meet almost all your requirements.
There is also the commercial option that we can buy when we are ready for more structured projects.
I recommend this one because has been built to handle the full administration of MySQL.
It can create and drop databases, create/drop/alter tables, delete/edit/add fields, execute any SQL statement, manage users and permissions, and manage keys on fields.
A nice feature from this legendary tool is that you can download and change the theme (not exactly a monumental feature, but a unique feature).
Is so popular and is a free tool.
